A Family Legacy of Craftsmanship

Welcome to Peruvian Accent Inc., where tradition meets purpose, and craftsmanship is rooted in family.

Our story began nearly 50 years ago with one person—my mother. In the 1970s, she started making sweaters by hand and selling them at local fairs in Washington State. As demand grew beyond what one pair of hands could manage, she returned to Peru and did something that would shape everything that followed: she gathered 30 single mothers from our church and taught them the craft, creating not just work, but opportunity and community.

Today, that small beginning has grown into a cooperative of over 300 artisans, united by the same values that started it all.

Nestled in the Andes near Cusco, Peru, our work begins with the alpaca. We raise our own alpacas, harvest their fleece with care, and use only the first two shearings—the softest, finest fiber—for our products. The wool is hand-dyed using traditional methods, and every design is created and made by us, from start to finish.

There are no middlemen here. By overseeing every step—raising the alpacas, shearing, dyeing, designing, and crafting—we ensure exceptional quality while keeping our prices fair and honest. This is also why our inventory is limited. We don’t mass-produce. We choose quality over quantity, always.

From September through December, you’ll often find us on the road, meeting customers face-to-face at shows, sharing our story, and introducing people to the difference they can feel when something is truly handmade.

When you purchase from Peruvian Accent, you’re not just buying a product. You’re supporting hundreds of families within our cooperative—artisans whose livelihoods are strengthened through meaningful, skilled work passed down through generations.

Every piece we make carries a story—of heritage, care, and connection to the land and people of Peru. We’re honored to share that story with you and grateful to have you as part of our journey.
